Dr. Viktor Frankl endured years of unspeakable horror in the Nazi death camps and later wrote a book titled, "Man's Search For Meaning." Although this was originally published in 1946, I think the title is very significant and relevant for today. It seems that, by nature, mankind is always "searching". Our lives have benefited tremendously in many areas, such as technology, because of this search. However, most people realize that something is lacking that a new toy or piece of technology won't provide (But I am thankful for my iPad and keep it with me at all times!).
One attendee of Woodstock told a reporter ... "There's 250,000 of us are here and we're all searching for something. We don't really know what it is we're looking for and we know we won't find it here but we still feel compelled to search." I once read that Billy Graham had lunch with a psychiatrist. During their conversation, the psychiatrist told him that he felt it was quite possible that every resident, in every mental institution in America, could be released and labeled as cured if they could just find forgiveness. People are searching for something and many don't know what it is that they need ... but still they search!
We're all searching! Some are searching for jobs (or better jobs), some are searching for relationships (or better relationships), some are searching for healing (physical or emotional), some are searching for significance, and some are searching for truth! If you're searching ... let the search begin with God! John Calvin said, "First you must know God before you can really know yourself." God's word starts off with ... "In the beginning God ... " ('Nuff said!) Some people consider themselves Christians and some may even be regular church attenders but they still realize that something is missing!
At The Pentecostals of Columbia, we feel our purpose is to help you with your search! Whatever you're searching for, we truly want to help you and we sincerely feel that God has called us to help you with your search. At POC, you won't find fog machines and light shows. You won't find the finest musicians in the metro area. The simplicity of our church may not involve all the latest technology, but you will find God! And you will find a group of people, used by God, that will love and embrace you "as you are" and help you in your search. Our emphasis is "Building Lives - Building Families - Building Futures." Why don't you be my guest and give us the opportunity to get acquainted this Sunday? Please check us out online at www.pentecostalsofcolumbia.com.
