Some denominations and religious groups do not believe in divine healing for today. Some try to dissect the scriptures to prove that the days of miracles are over. Rather than trying to convince someone what the Bible teaches about divine healing ... I felt I wanted to simply share one of the many instances in my own life when the awesome Spirit of God worked a miracle! As its been said, "You can't argue with an experience!"
Several years ago, I had recently completed a major building project. A few years earlier, we had returned to Arkansas from South America and planted a new church. In time we were able to buy 4.5 acres and began a new church building. As we completed this undertaking, I was extremely exhausted! I found myself having chest pains and struggling with my breathing. I remember one day climbing the stairs of our home to speak with my son in his bedroom. By the time I reached the top of the stairs, I had to set down! I was dizzy and was gasping for air! My wife saw what has happening and pleaded with me to go to the doctor and get checked out. At the doctors office, I was told I had an irregular heartbeat and was referred to a cardiologist. The cardiologist explained the need for more testing and also wanted me to see a pulmonologist.
To save time, I'll be brief in providing the details of my diagnoses. I was diagnosed with "pulmonary hypertension." The doctor explained that high blood pressure can cause a stroke and high lung pressure can put too much of a strain on the heart and cause a cardiac arrest. I asked if I needed to start walking or exercising and was told emphatically not to do any extra activities at this point! In fact, he told me to take it easy, because by putting myself under too much of a load could put me into cardiac arrest. I asked about treatment options and was told that this condition can be treated but cost of treatment is approximately $90,000 ... per YEAR!!! And I would possibly need to be treated for the rest of my life! (That was encouraging!) I was scheduled for a heart cath and they wanted to run the wire into the lung to measure the lung pressure and then we would discuss the options to get started with treatment.
Just prior to my heart cath, I was scheduled to be at a prayer conference in another state and the main speaker was Bro. Lee Stoneking, who is a tremendous man of faith! These services were absolutely amazing! There was no "prayer line" and no one specifically prayed for me and my condition. I didn't even tell anyone about my diagnoses at this point. However, at the close of one service, I felt that the Lord was calling me personally to a place of prayer. I made my way to the front and immediately felt the Lord leading me into a deep intercessory type of prayer. While praying, it felt as if something was rattling inside of my chest but I was focused more on the the powerful presence of God that had surrounded me and didn't really think that much about the possibility of being healed.
After the conference, we returned home and a few days later I went in for my heart cath. When I had the appointment with the doctor to look over the results ... he kept looking at the previous testing results and back to the current results. He did this for several minutes and finally, he looked at me and said, "I don't understand what has happened! We have not started any treatment as of yet but the lung pressure of your earlier tests were extremely high! Dangerously high! Now the results show your lung pressure is perfect!" I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!!! BY HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED!!! The clinic wanted me to come back a few weeks later so they could keep in eye on my condition. I was later told to come back every six months to make sure everything was still going well. After a few of these six month appointments, I was told they did not need to see me anymore! I never took a single pill or any treatments but God healed me instantly! That has been over five years ago and I've not had any symptoms since!
I felt impressed to share this personal testimony, not only to convey what the Lord has done for me ... although I want to tell it everywhere! But I also wanted to possibly encourage someone else to not waver in your faith and confidence that ... GOD IS STILL A HEALER!
